GATE test bed location
The GATE test bed is located in the region of Berchtesgaden in the very southeastern part of Germany / Bavaria. Berchtesgaden is about 150 km from Munich, close to the Austrian border and can be easily reached by car in approx. two hours driving time from Munich.

GATE test area infrastructure
The six transmitter stations enclose an area of about
65 km², the core area for GATE experimentation is
about 25 km². The two monitoring stations are located
at an exposed position quite centric within the test
area. |

GATE test area terrain
Berchtesgaden is
surrounded by high
mountains rising
up to over 2000
m. The establishment
of the GATE transmitters
on well exposed
positions allows
for the emission
of the GATE signals
with average elevations
from 10 to 15 degrees
(for the user located
within the core
test area).
